When Should You Apply for a Payday Advance?

Sometimes a short-term loan solution is the right way to go. Often, an emergency fund is not enough – if it is present in the first place – due to the financial stressors that you encounter. However, don’t dive into such a loan without knowing you’re ready.

  1. It is the best option. Be realistic when it comes to your finances. If you have an emergency cash account or have long-term loan needs, it might not be best. Make sure this is something that’s right for your situation.
  2. You’ve done your research. Rates and the safety of the company are important for a payday advance. Make sure they are FDIC-insured, rated well at the Better Business Bureau, and have competitive rates: compare! Take time to find the right payday loan.
  3. You’re sure you can pay it back. There’s a reason why it’s a great “short-term” option. As with any loan, you don’t want to experience what it’s like to be unable to handle the payback plan. This will compound your interest as well as your difficulties.

Getting ready for a payday loan is a mix of the right loan and the right situation. In other words, you have to be sure that you can take on the payments. You also have to be confident that it is right for you.

When found in the right situation, a payday advance can be perfect for your needs. Make sure you understand the terms from the company before proceeding. It should provide you some breathing room in your budget.

Shopping for Costumes on a Budget

When you need costumes, whether for you or your kids, more than likely you don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend on authentic, handmade costumes that are true to the original. Here are some ideas for shopping for costumes on a budget.

Buy Online

One of the easiest ways to get Halloween costumes for less is to purchase them online. You can buy them new or used. Either way, online shopping provides a wide variety of costume options at a good price.

Make Your Own

If you enjoy sewing, then making your own costume can be a fun, creative experience. Just be sure to give yourself plenty of time so you aren’t rushed and forced to stay up late to finish the night before a Halloween party or other costume event.

Another idea for making your own costume is trying to find items that go with your costume at thrift stores or from friends. This is possible when your costume is something contemporary, such as a celebrity, or when you’re dressing like someone from a specific era, such as the 1960s.

Rent a Costume

If you want a high-quality costume just for one night, consider renting a costume from a local costume shop. This will allow you to have just the costume you want for a fraction of the price.

Dressing up is always fun, but it can be expensive. By planning ahead and finding good deals, you can really cut the costs of getting costumes.

Learn How To Negotiate A Raise At Work

With an economy where unemployment is at an all-time high, it’s scary to think of negotiating your earnings. You should be happy you have a job, right? Not necessarily.

For many that have been working in a career for a long time or for someone that has skills unlike his or her’s colleagues, a raise shouldn’t be seen as unreasonable. It’s important that the right timing and location for the conversation is orchestrated in such a way that one’s boss feels convinced and is in a place where “No” isn’t an answer.

Do Your Research

Before approaching your boss, do some research on average incomes of someone with your skill set and experience in your career. This will give you an idea of what you can reasonably aim for. Perhaps asking for added perks such as vacation days or an office instead of higher pay can be used too.

Know Your Worth

Of course, doing your research coincides with this notion, but also preparing yourself for working somewhere else is not out of the question. Not feeling like you’re appreciated at your job may reduce productivity and in turn, hurt your business. This is a great point to address during your meeting with your boss.

Evaluate Your Career Goals

Ultimately, after having your meeting with your boss asking for a raise, you may want to re-evaluate what your goals are in terms of your career. If the meeting perhaps didn’t go as well as planned, it may be time to switch careers or employers. However, if the meeting did go well (Congratulations!), begin creating new goals foro the future for yourself. This will give you something to work toward and make working a more exciting, rewarding experience for yourself.
